Animal Camp & Educational Programs

The League has a Humane Educator that will visit your school, scout troop or community organization. Topics can include responsible pet care, animal welfare, preventing pet overpopulation and the League's role in our community.

The League offers the popular Animal Awareness Camp during the summer. Click here for more information about the 2008 sessions. Each weeklong session is geared towards educating children about animals and the environment with an emphasis on compassion, safety and kindness to all creatures.

Feline Follies - Ages & Stages
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria celebrates National Adopt-a-Cat Month! Free seminars on feline care at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter! Saturday June 7, 1-3pm. KITTENS: the good, the bad and the snuggly with Andrea Tasi, DVM - kitten nutrition; Marisa Gerth, DVM, Critterfixers Mobile Veterinary Care – congenital disorders and first aid; Christina Richardson, PhD, SFO, 4Paws2Hands – Reiki and kittens. Saturday June 17, 1-3pm SENSATIONAL SENIORS: older cat care with Harold Alterman, VMD, Veterinary Housecall Acupuncture Services – acupuncture; Christina Richardson, PhD, SFO, 4Paws2Hands–Reiki and the older cat; Marisa Gerth, DVM, Critterfixers Mobile Veterinary Care – diseases and disorders.
