Thank you for your interest in Terry. He is a 3 year old Collie Mix. Terry is an attractive guy with much potential for an adopter willing to provide him with the structure, training, and exercise he needs. As a Collie, Terry has a very keen desire to work and needs an appropriate outlet for his energy so that he does not become bored. Terry will do best with an adopter who understands his daily need for 60-90 minutes of exercise and consistent leadership and training. Terry responds well to those he respects, and working with him every day on training will help his adopter establish a strong bond with Terry. Terry would do best with someone with some dog experience and children over 8 years. Currently, Terry weighs 52 pounds, and this is a healthy weight for him.

Thank you for your interest in Spencer. He is a 2 year old Coonhound. Spencer is an energetic guy who is very curious about his environment! He is a fun, happy-go-lucky dog with a lot of great qualities. Spencer is affectionate and quite eager to please, and likes to be near people—especially if he can get a head rub and do his best to crawl into your lap! Spencer successfully graduated from canine charm school here at the shelter, and has mastered good canine manners! However, as a hound, Spencer loves to explore with his nose, following interesting scents, so his adopter will want to make sure they enforce the “four on the floor” rule and prevent him from helping himself to good-smelling things on the counter. Spencer would do well with a first time dog owner, and children over 8 years. Currently, Spencer weighs 48 pounds, and this is a healthy weight for him.

Brady would do best with someone with dog experience, and teenagers or older. Currently, Brady weighs 60 pounds and this is a healthy weight for him.

Thank you for your interest in Prince. He is a 1 year old Rottweiler Mix. Prince is a confident, funny dog who loves attention! In his previous home, Prince only lived outside and is looking for an adopter who can teach him how to be a good “indoor” dog too. He can be a bit shy or worried about things we take for granted, for instance, he didn’t know what to do with stuffed toys when first introduced, and seemed scared. After several introductions, he no longer seemed scared, but was still unsure of how to play with them. Prince is looking for a confident, experienced owner who can slowly introduce him to new things and teach him good house manners. Prince is a good dog to go to training with because he seems very interested in food rewards which will make training easier. Prince would do best with someone with some dog experience, and children over 8 years. Currently, Prince weighs 48 pounds and this is a healthy weight for him.

Thank you for your interest in Milo. He is a 1 year old Rottweiler Mix. Milo is a sweet and funny guy! He and his brother Prince were both kept outside all the time, so he is looking for someone who can teach him inside manners. Milo loves attention and head rubs, and once you begin rubbing his neck and ears, he’s as happy as can be! Milo can be a bit shy or worried about things that are “new” to him, such as vacuum cleaners and hair dryers, and his new owner should be prepared to slowly introduce him to new indoor experiences. Milo would do best with a patient owner with some dog experience and children over 8 years. Currently, Milo weighs 50 pounds, and this is a healthy weight for him.

Thank you for your interest in Shadow. He is a 6 month old German Shepherd / Labrador Mix. Shadow is a young and playful guy who enjoys being around people! As Shadow is still a (big) youngster, he needs an owner who can provide him with guidance and help him learn good manners. Shadow is an energetic, adolescent dog who will need a minimum of 90 minutes of exercise and training every day to ensure he has the physical and mental stimulation he needs. Shadow would be a great dog for activities such as Frisbee, flyball, and obedience training, as he seems eager to please his human companions and loves tennis balls. Shadow would do best with someone with some dog experience, and children over 8 years. Currently, Shadow weighs 54 pounds, and is still growing—as an adult he may reach 75-85 pounds.

Thank you for your interest in Johnny Cash. He is a 6 year old Beagle. Johnny Cash was seized along with 65 other dogs by the Middleburg Humane Foundation. The dogs had been living in horrible conditions in a barn with limited access to food and water. The Shelter took Johnny Cash, along with four other dogs and is working to help them find their forever home! Johnny Cash, like his namesake, has quite the voice and loves to sing! He is a sweet and happy dog with plenty of personality. Despite his hard past, Johnny Cash has been upbeat and happy-go-lucky with us since he’s arrived at the Shelter. Johnny Cash has a playful side, and enjoys company of people, but also can be relaxed and calm when not engaged in play. As a breed, Beagles were bread to follow scents and bark to alert their owners of their location. They have a keen sense of smell and need plenty of exercise. Beagles are generally known for their energetic spirit, playfulness and sociability. Johnny Cash would be a great “first dog” and can be placed in homes with children ages 4 and older. Currently, Johnny Cash weighs 25 pounds, and this is a healthy weight for him.

Thank you for your interest in Angus. He is an 8 month old Jack Russell Terrier. Angus is a dapper little gentleman who is generally friendly and funny! He is extremely athletic and active, and would be a great candidate for agility and other dog sports. He loves food and will work for treats--his previous owners already taught him how to “sit”, “down”, “roll-over” and several other commands. Angus is a busy little guy, and obedience training will help keep him mentally active and provide an outlet for his energy. His adopter will want to set aside at lease one hour per day for walks and playtime, as Angus is quite active. Angus would do best with someone with some dog experience, and children over 8 years. Currently, Angus weighs 15 pounds, and this is a healthy weight for him.

Thank you for your interest in Pucci. She is a 2 year old Beagle Mix. Pucci is a sweet and friendly girl who loves people! She sits nicely for treats and to be petted, but also likes to be close and give hugs if you are giving ear rubs. Pucci arrived as a rural rescue dog from West Virginia and had previously spent her life outside, so this country girl can be quite shy and concerned when meeting new people and situations for the first time. As Pucci comes out of her shell, she is looking for an adopter who can provide controlled, predictable routines to help her acclimate to her life in a new home. Pucci seems to enjoy food and treats, which will help her in training to build confidence and bond with her new owner. She is also bright and eager to learn, making her a good student and companion to the right adopter. Pucci would do best with someone with some dog experience, and children over 8 years. Currently, Pucci weighs 32 pounds, and this is a healthy weight for her.
