Full time or part-time receptionist position with some animal contact and heavy contact with the public. Ability to answer multiple line telephones and multi-tasking skills are needed. Excellent customer service skills a must. Full-time pay starts at $10.50/hr and the schedule is Tuesday through Saturday (12-8:30pm weekdays and 9-5:30pm on Saturdays). Part-time pay starts at $10.40/hr and the schedule is Wed. & Thurs., 12pm-8:30pm; Sat., 9am-5:30pm.

Responsibilities will include providing support to the Director of Development in maintaining the League’s donor database, acknowledging donors, assembling mailing lists and assisting with other general office duties and fundraising projects. WORK IN ANIMAL CARE!! The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is currently looking for Animal Care Technicians. This position has many opportunities for someone who wants to enter the field of Animal Sheltering. While rewarding in many ways, this job and the environment can be stressful and physically and emotionally demanding. If you’re willing and able to: 1. Be a part of an energetic and compassionate group 2. Provide medical care such as vaccinations, diagnostics, medication and wound treatment 3. Scrub kennels (physical labor) inside and outside in humid or cold conditions 4. Nurture and care for neglected animals 5. Work independently and responsibly but also as a member of our team 6. Communicate with co-workers and the public 7. Follow directions thoroughly 8. Euthanize animals according to the policies of the League and Virginia State laws 9. Work with a positive attitude 10. Administrative Manager (posted: August 29, 2008)
The Administrative Manager is responsible for the overall management of the administrative, human resources, payroll, and information technology activities of the League. In addition, the Manager of Administration will provide program oversight for the Spay-Neuter Program and the Licensing Program, and will handle preliminary activities related to finances. The Manager of Administration has supervisory responsibility for the Administrative and Reception Staff, including shared supervision of the Animal Control Clerk. Good candidates for this position are those with exceptional organizational and people skills, as well as previous supervisory and HR experience. The person in this position must understand all areas of the shelter, and is very much the “go to” person for the staff. Of course, this person must love animals as well! Excellent benefits package and negotiable salary, starting at $40K+ per year.
