The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria 2009 calendar, designed by Amy Simpson of Simpatico Design Studio, LLC, features all photographs that were entered in our calendar photo contest. The public then voted for their favorite photo via mail, phone, in person at the Shelter or as special voting events. Each dollar raised for the League counted as one vote. The pet whose photo received the most votes won a cover photography session and a framed portrait from Robin Burkett of PawPrints Photography. The thirteen runners-up were photographed by Jean Hacken of Expressions³ Photography, and those portraits grace our monthly and year-at-a-glance pages.

This calendar, now in its 7th year, has become a successful fundraiser for the AWLA due to enthusiastic support from our community pet lovers and businesses. The photographers and design studio generously donated their time and expertise to this project. The amount raised from calendar advertising covers the full cost of printing, which enables all other revenue to go directly to helping animals at the Shelter and the League's programs.
