Summer Camps
At the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria!
Shelter Buddies Camp is an introduction to the world of animal sheltering, animal care, and local wildlife. Campers will join in animal-themed games, activities, and visit with the shelter’s Animal Ambassadors. We offer two sections of this camp: one for children entering 3rd and 4th grades and one for children entering 5th and 6th grades.
Shelter Buddies Camp I, for children entering 3rd or 4th grades:
June 28- July 2
July 12- July 16
July 26- July 30
Aug 9- Aug 13
Shelter Buddies Camp II, for children entering 5th or 6th grades:
July 5- July 9
July 19- July 23
Dog Days of Summer Camp is a fun way for kids to learn about dog behavior, training, and dog-sports. Join us for a week of fun as we focus on all things canine. This camp is offered to those entering 5th and 6th grades. Campers may register for both Dog Days of Summer Camp and Shelter Buddies Camp!
Dog Days of Summer Camp, for children entering 5th or 6th grade:

Aug 16- Aug 20
All sessions start at 9:30 am and end at 3:30 pm. Applications are available at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter or can be downloaded from here. Please mail or bring your completed application to the shelter. Camp is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We will call you to confirm your registration. Payment of $200 is due within 7 days of notification of acceptance. Registrations received after sessions are full will be added to a waitlist.
